Local Cycling Groups
South Herts Cyclists (the local Cycling UK /CTC) club has rides every Sunday morning & Wednesday evening from St Albans or Hatfield and the occasional Saturday morning.
Breeze is a national network offering women-only rides, led by volunteer leaders known as 'Champions'. The rides are at all levels, from introductory to quite sporty. There are links to local groups on the Breeze Network Hertfordshire Facebook page.
CycleHerts is an umbrella organisation for cycling groups so that they can work together to influence the County Council, district, parish and town councils to improve conditions and facilities for cyclists and encourage cycling in Hertfordshire. STACC is a member.
Forty Plus Cycling Club is a national organisation for older cyclists with a strong presence in Herts and have rides from St Albans or Hatfield on Tuesdays.
Luton & Dunstable Cycle Forum promote cycling in the south-east of Bedfordshire.
Spokes South West Herts Cycling Group campaigns in a variety of ways to get better provision for cyclists in South West Hertfordshire. Most work is done with the three local-district councils – Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere.
Verulam Cycling Club are based in St Albans and is one of the oldest and most active sporting cycling groups in the area and is designed to cater for all standards, from beginner to competitive racer. Among its activities are weekly rides, racing, training sessions and social events.
Watford Cycle Hub is a non-profit community bike centre offering bike-repair services, maintenance courses and cycle training. They also accept old bikes (the ones that have been cluttering up the back of your garden for years!) and recycle them, salvaging what they can and selling affordable reconditioned bikes and bike parts.
WelHatCycling is an independent group working with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council to improve and encourage cycling throughout the Welwyn Hatfield district.
Welwyn Wheelers Cycling Club is one of the premier cycling clubs in the South East of England. The club has Clubmark (Sport England accreditation) and British Cycling’s Go-ride (youth development) status.
